About this course

Primary Plus is a new six-level course for 8-10 year olds. The course develops young children’s confidence in communicating in English and equips them with essential life skills to meet future challenges. Children will gain confidence in all four skills – listening, speaking, reading and writing. They will develop their communicative confidence and learn English naturally through a variety of engaging tasks and projects. The course develops the whole child and integrates the development of cultural awareness, creativity, critical thinking, IT, and learning to learn skills as well as supporting children in reaching their full potential.

The course, which has been designed by British Council experts, is based on three interrelated principles:

  • effective English teaching
  • a positive learning environment
  • effective learning and skills for life

The course is module-based with age-appropriate themes and topics that match with child development stages and enhance children’s’ understanding and use of English.

Primary Plus offers a unique learning experience, as your child will be:

  • interacting with exclusive learning materials in the form of dynamic Module Magazines
  • experiencing holistic development, including the development of life skills
  • practicing grammar and vocabulary on the online portal, where parents can also go to check their children’s progress

Five reasons to register

Build your child’s confidence and ability in English

With British Council’s 80 years of teaching expertise, excellent teaching qualifications and our knowledge of children’s language development, our courses are designed to expand their capabilities step by step and build their confidence.

In each level of Primary Plus, there is a balance of all four language skills with an emphasis on reading development at lower levels to support access to the syllabus and further develop literacy skills at the higher levels.

Equip your child with skills for life

Our courses support children in their physical, personal, social and emotional development as well as in developing important life skills such as creativity, leadership and critical thinking. There are specially formulated activities and engagement with a variety of media to help children gain essential life skills naturally. We developed our six key life skills according to the ‘6Cs’ framework developed by Fullan and Langworthy (2013), and UNESCO’s transversal skills (2013)

  • Creativity and imagination
  • Leadership and personal development
  • Citizenship
  • Critical thinking and problem solving
  • Digital literacy
  • Collaboration and communication.

Fun and interactive classes

We use a variety of stimulating materials and activities such as games, music and tasks that employ logic and higher-order thinking to appeal to different learning styles and multiple intelligence inclinations. Children do their homework online, after students reach a certain level of progress special game or cartoon about Shaun the Sheep unlocks.

Collaboration and interaction between children and teachers create an environment where children are free to express themselves and ask questions. Children will love these types of lessons!

A clear sense of progress

Parents will receive reports on their child’s progress and will have the opportunity to discuss their child’s overall development through face to face meetings with the teacher. In addition to this, parents can log on to the Primary Plus online portal to see the learning activities that their child has completed for homework.

A final communicative task with measurable outcomes e.g. a project, writing task or presentation will be done at the end of each module to measure the progress of your child.

Primary Plus online portal

The learning activities on the Primary Plus online portal are specially designed for grammar and vocabulary training with language learning games that unlock once students reach a certain level of progress.
