What courses can you choose?

The choice of the course depends only on the age of your child, on your summer plans, and whether you are interested in exam preparation. The modules within each type of school are flexible and can be combined in any order.

Upper Primary (8-10 y.o.)

The British Council Upper Primary Summer School develops your child’s confidence in communicating in English and equips them with the essential life skills to meet future challenges. Children will gain confidence in all four skills – listening, speaking, reading and writing. They will develop their communicative confidence and learn English naturally through a variety of engaging tasks and projects. This dynamic and involving course develops the whole child and supports them in reaching their full potential. Motivating craft activities and project work give them tangible evidence of their accomplishments, and focus on conversational practice provides learners with the tools they need to use English in and outside of school.

Lower Secondary (11-13 y.o.)

The British Council Lower Secondary Summer School gives younger teenage learners a truly rewarding learning experience, improves their understanding of the language and develops skills at interacting in English. Our lesson approach promotes communication and develops critical 21st Century Skills, providing real contexts to practice everyday language.

Upper Secondary (14-17 y.o.)

The British Council Upper Secondary English Summer School develops teenage learners’ all-round English ability. The course programme presents learners with a variety of options for language practice and allows them to become active participants in the learning process. It goes beyond building strong language skills to developing the whole learner with an emphasis on critical thinking, positive values, notions of citizenship and leadership, and the development of self-esteem.

IELTS Intensive (14-17 y.o.)

A special 20-hour course to prepare young learners for the internationally recognised IELTS exam, a very useful qualification for students wishing to study abroad. It focuses on the techniques and strategies needed to develop exam skills, but the learners will be able to use these skills in numerous other academic situations.
