Online Conference on Modern University Embracing Change
University of Cambridge, Faculty of Education 28 November - 1 December

Under the Ukraine Higher Education Leadership Development Programme of the British Council in partnership with the Institute of Higher Education (Ukraine) and the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education (UK) with the assistance of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University and Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University joint delegation was visiting the University of Cambridge from 27 November to 3 December 2016.

The purpose of the visit was to learn about best practices in university governance, leadership and education reform and share professional knowledge and practical expertise about building and sustaining systemic change, particularly in volatile socio-political times.

As part of the Ukrainian delegation visit, the University of Cambridge held a 4-day scientific-practical conference with a panel of distinguished scholars and practitioners showcasing their research on and discussing:

  • The role of modern university (David Bridges)
  • University vision, values and purpose (Anne Lonsdale)
  • University governance and funding (Dr Kirstly Allen, Ceri Benton and David Carter)
  • Developing a university's international strategy (Paola Contreras)
  • Teaching and learning in higher education (Geoff Hayward)
  • E-learning technologies (Ruslan Ramanau)
  • Student representation and engagement (Peter Sutoris)
  • Leadership in higher education (Nataliya Rumyantseva)
  • Higher education reform in Ukraine (Iryna Kushnir)
  • Confict and displacement (Jo-Anne Dillabough)
  • Exiled universities (the case of European Humanities University)
  • The role of education in peace-building (Sara Clarke-Habibi)
  • Peace studies (Hilary Cremin and Kevin Kester)
