You can register for IELTS quickly and easily through our Online Registration Service.
To register, simply follow the steps below:
1 Read the information for candidates
Download and read the Information for Candidates which contains important information about the test format, the question types and the test results. Please note that IELTS is not recommended for candidates under the age of 16.
2 Decide which version of the test is right for you
There are two versions of the IELTS test:

3 Check the IELTS test dates
Check the dates and locations of IELTS exams here. Choose the date and module that you need.
4. Register online
Use our Online Registration System to book your place on the test.
Please ensure you are able to provide the documents in step 5 and are able to pay.
5. Pay the fee and submit your documents
The cost of sitting a test is 1550 UAH. The fee should be paid at the British Council cash desk in Kyiv or to our representative in Odesa, Donetsk, Lviv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk or Zaporizhzhya.
Note: Candidates can pay the exam fee in Zaporizhzhya only for the examinations taking place in that city. We operate with cash only. Please make sure you bring ALL of the following documents when you register for your test:
I) Two recent photos (passport size) that:
- have been taken within the past six months
- are taken against a plain background
- legibly signed with the name and surname of the candidate, test date and tet location
- show the test taker with a neutral expression (no smiling) with mouth closed
- show the test taker without glasses (if you wear them).
Please be aware that your picture may appear on your Test Result Form
II) A clear and legible photocopy of two identification documents (national and foreign passport)
III) If you are a non-European citizen, you must also provide a copy of your visa
IV) A signed print-out of your confirmation e-mail

We need to receive all documents within five working days of your online registration. Unfortunately, if we do not receive documents within five working days your application will be cancelled. In case of late registration please pay the fee withing 1-2 working days.
We cannot process incomplete applications, so please make sure you have sent us all the necessary information.
Copies of your results
If you would like your results to be sent to universities or other educational institutions, send us an email request containing their relevant addresses. We will not send out the copies without an email request. We can issue a maximum of five copies per student.
6. After you register
After registering you will receive an automatic email with your access codes to the free online course: Road to IELTS

An organisation may want to enter a group of candidates. Please contact our examination department about such entries prior to the registration date. However, each candidate from that group will need to register online individually.
Always check availability of places as there might still be available places even after the deadline. If the online registration is active and the systems allows you to book a place, then you can proceed with further actions. If online registration is blocked, you still have a chance to take the exam on the date of your choice.
Please email our examinations department to find out about the waiting list. You may be put on the waiting list for a certain test date. Please note that a waiting list is meant for candidates who are ready to replace a drop-out from the main list at short notice. It does not guarantee a place in the main list because it is created only for a certain date and does not cover other test dates.
IELTS is designed to be a fair test and your English language ability will be assessed objectively, regardless of any special needs that you may have.
We can help you with any special arrangements you require for your test. For example, we offer support for people with visual impairments, hearing difficulties and dyslexia.
Please contact us three months in advance of your test date to find out how you can apply for special arrangements.
You can apply for a refund:
- If you cancel your registration at least five weeks before the test date, you will receive 75% of the fee refunded.
- If you cancel your registration within five weeks or less of the test date, you will not receive a refund unless you can provide appropriate evidence to support your cancellation. If you want to apply for a refund, please complete and submit a Request for Refund Form as soon as possible before the test date.
If you want to transfer to a different test date or change the module of the exam, you need to complete and submit a Transfer/Refund Form. If your application for transfer is approved you will need to pay an additional 387 UAH administrative fee. If you want to change the module (Academic or General) please send us a request as soon as possbile before the exam date. No extra fee will be charged for a change of module.
If you are absent on the day of the exam without prior notice you will get no refund. If you provide the original of a medical certificate proving that your absence has been affected by serious illness or other serious cause within five working days of the exam you will be refunded 75% of the exam fee.
