The British Council was founded in 1934 and is one of the oldest cultural relations organisations in the world. The British Council Ukraine office was established in 1992 and as of 2024 we are deepening our work in the areas of English, Arts, Creative Economy, Formal and Non-formal Education in Ukraine.
The British Council’s partner organisations in Ukraine – Government Ministries, cultural, arts and youth institutions, schools, universities and international organisations – value our meaningful and sustainable relationships, expertise and support from the UK in developing programmes and our trusted brand. We are proud of our joint projects, which have a significant impact on culture and education in Ukraine. By adapting our global resources and leveraging our expertise, we ensure our programmes are innovative, impactful and lead to lasting change.
Our vision is for a post-war society in Ukraine that is: open – with strong international connections, skilled – strengthened English Language, strong Universities, confident young leaders; creative – sharing the diversity of Ukrainian culture with the UK and the world. In practice, this means that all the programmes we develop together with our partners aim to support Ukrainians comprehensively. Our priorities are:
- international connections
- leadership skills development
- strengthening English language skills
- artistic expression and sharing the diversity of Ukrainian culture with the world.
