An Encore screening of the much loved play about an elderly matriarch and her chauffeur, starring Angela Lansbury and James Earl Jones. When septuagenarian southern American widow Daisy Werthan (Angela Lansbury) prangs her brand new car, her son Boolie (Boyd Gaines) insists that she's no longer capable of driving. Despite the proud matriarch's protests, he hires a chauffeur: uneducated, 60-year-old African-American Hoke Colburn (James Earl Jones). From such unpromising beginnings, a decades-long friendship flourishes. Alfred Uhry's powerful, Pulitzer Prize-winning 1987 play was a huge hit with audiences and subsequently adapted to become an Oscar-winning movie.
