Word on the Street is an exciting new English Language teaching programme co-produced by the BBC and the British Council.
Word on the Street looks at how English works in everyday life and presents lively aspects of young British culture. Each half hour episode is filmed in a different place in the UK and features drama, interviews and reports to help you improve your English language skills.
British Council Ukraine has created the Teacher’s Pack for English teachers for their professional development and classroom use. It is for the learners at B1-B2 levels. It matches the requirements of the secondary school curriculum for 9-11 grades and ensures socio-cultural component of language education. Nearly 16 000 schools of Ukraine have received the Teacher’s Pack free of charge.
It contains:
• Video episodes and teacher’s notes aimed at assisting English teachers help develop their leaners’ language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Communicative and Integrated approaches are employed in the lessons.

• TeachingEnglish Radio is an introduction to teacher development with audio materials and teacher support worksheets. Audio materials contain interviews with teachers, recorded lessons and recommendations on how to improve teaching the English language.
• Teacher’s guide to online resources for young learners LearnEnglish Kids. These resources are designed for learners at the age of 3-12 who learn English as a foreign language. Teachers can find different free online materials to use at the lessons and at home. The Guide maps online resources to the school curriculum and helps teachers use these resources effectively at the lessons.
