British Council Ukraine and Sentrum club start a new series of contemporary British music shows - Selector Live.

On July, 7 leaders of the modern British hip hop scene and the winners of the 2014 Mercury Prize Young Fathers will perform at Sentrum club in Kyiv (Shota Rustaveli str., 11).

Alternative hip hop group Young Fathers originated in 2008 at the Los Angeles label “Anticon”. After two EPs “Tape One” and “Tape Two” - in February of 2014 they released their debut CD “Dead”. Filled with oriental sound the experimental sound of the album teeters on the brink of hip-hop, soul, folk, indie, trip-hop.

Dark horses of the Scottish hip-hop scene have become one of the most talked about British bands of 2014. Earning fame as a "psychedelic hip-hop boy band", they went on a tour throughout the UK and other European countries and eventually won "Album of the year" nomination of the Mercury Awards, having beaten rivals like FKA twigs, Bombay Bicycle Club, Damon Albarn and others. Immediately after that they went to Berlin to continue work on a second album "White Men Are Black Men Too”, which was released in April 2015 and received favorable reviews from the music critics.

Organized by the British Council in Ukraine to support British music radio show The Selector, Selector Live series will be held in one of the major concert venues in Kyiv - Sentrum club. A wide range of styles and genres will be presented there over the course of the whole year – from indie guitar-rock to "smart" electronics.
