The Active Citizens programme announces a call for a pool of Master Facilitators.

Active Citizens is a British Council programme for young people in the field of intercultural dialogue and social development. Learn more about the Active Citizens programme here.

The British Council hereby announces an open call for Master Facilitators for the 2020-2022 programme and invites applications from both partner organisations and from existing master facilitators.

The Master Facilitator is a facilitator who has in-depth knowledge, skills and experience in implementing the Active Citizens programme and who meets the British Council’s criteria of conducting activities and training other facilitators.

In 2020-2022, Master Facilitators will be involved in the following activities under the Active Citizens programme: seminars for new facilitators (representatives of partner organisations which train active citizens), local and regional pitchings, national and study visits, national conferences and other events which the British Council organises.

Start of applications submission 05 October 2020

Notification of Selection results 27 October 2020

Applications will be evaluated by British Council representatives.

Who can be a Master Facilitator?

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

1.Skills and abilities of a Master Facilitator:

  • Deep understanding of the Active Citizens programme;
  • Mastery of the methods and practices of the Active Citizens programme;
  • Ability to mentor, empathise with and increase the potential of participants;
  • Holistic and strategic thinking;
  • Analytical skills and critical thinking skills;
  • Ability to conduct trainings for groups of 20 people;
  • Ability to develop and adapt the programme for different events’ target audiences;
  • Ability to conduct events online.

2.Experience and recommendations:

  • At least 100 trained active citizens (confirmed by a letter from a partner organisation);
  • At least five local training sessions conducted;
  • Evidence of high-quality training of the Active Citizens methodology (feedback form, publication on social networks, feedback from participants);
  • Confirmation of the supported social action project, submitted by the candidate or by participants of his/her training sessions (photo, video, post, media mention, etc.);
  • At least one recommendation from an existing Master Facilitator (provide contact details of an existing MF in an application form). No written recommendations required.

Tasks of the Master Facilitator

  • Carrying out activities within the Active Citizens programme, including seminars for new facilitators (representatives of partner organisations that train active citizens) and upgrades for programme facilitators, local and regional pitchings, national and study visits, national conferences, and other events which the British Council organises (except for local training);
  • Mentoring of participants and development of their potential;
  • Reporting after events;
  • Assessment of the quality of activities delivered.

What it takes to become a Master Facilitator?

To become a Master Facilitator for the first time, you should:

  • Fill in the form at the link
  • Be a citizen of Ukraine or have a residence permit and the right to work in Ukraine.
  • Provide relevant supporting documentation: 
    Evidence of high-quality training of the Active Citizens methodology (feedback form, publication on social networks, feedback from participants);
    Confirmation of the supported social action project, submitted by the candidate or by participants of his/her training sessions (photo, video, post, media mention, etc.);
    The covering letter and supporting documentation should be sent to the e-mail address activecitizens@britishcouncil.org.ua 

For Master-Facilitators who wish to continue working with the Active Citizens programme, you should

  • Fill in the form at the link
  • Provide a photo/scan of the certificate stating that you are already a master facilitator of the programme. The photo/scan should be sent to the e-mail address activecitizens@britishcouncil.org.ua 
  • Be a citizen of Ukraine or have a residence permit and the right to work in Ukraine.

Please note that in the absence of one or more of the documents listed above, the application will be deemed not to have been selected. 

Financial remuneration

We will separately agree the amount of financial reward with the selected Master Facilitators. 

It is expected that Master Facilitators will receive remuneration by bank transfer as a private entrepreneur or through the partner organisation (s)he represents.

Conflict of interest

Candidates must confirm in their cover letters that there is no conflict of interest related to the training of Active Citizens facilitators or any other personal or professional circumstances that may give rise to a conflict of interest. If a conflict of interest is identified that was not reported at the time of application, the Master Facilitator will be removed from the Active Citizens programme pool.

All candidates who will be selected in this call must sign a form confirming that they have no conflict of interest.
